To set up a product subscription on Shopify, follow these steps:
-
Choose a subscription app: To get started, you'll need a third-party Shopify app specifically designed to manage subscriptions. Popular apps include:
- Recharge Subscriptions
- Bold Subscriptions
- PayWhirl
- Install the chosen app: Go to the Shopify App Store and search for the subscription app you want to use. Click "Add app" and follow the installation instructions.
-
Configure subscription settings: Once the app is installed, open it and configure the basic settings for your subscriptions. This may include:
- the name of the subscription plan
- delivery frequency (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.)
- recurring payment options
- Add products to the subscription: Select the products you want to include in your subscription offer. Make sure these products are available and meet your customers' expectations.
- Test and launch: Before making the service available to all your customers, perform several tests to ensure everything is working correctly and that recurring payments are being processed successfully. Once satisfied with the tests, launch your subscription.
A beauty product merchant, for example, could offer a monthly "Beauty Box" containing a selection of cosmetic products. Using the Recharge Subscriptions app, they configure a monthly subscription for this box. Customers can choose to subscribe to receive products each month, thus providing the merchant with a stable recurring revenue stream. Each month, a new box containing different products is automatically shipped to subscribers, building customer loyalty while offering them the discovery of new products. For optimal configuration, it is recommended to call on a Shopify agency.
