To create a discount on Shopify, follow these steps:
- Go to your Shopify admin.
- Click "Discounts" in the left menu.
- Click the "Create discount" button in the top right.
- Select the type of discount you want to create:
- Discount code
- Automatic discount
- Configure your discount details:
- Enter a name for your discount
- Select the discount type: percentage, fixed amount, free shipping
- Define the conditions of application: minimum purchase, specific products, etc.
- Determine the validity period of the discount
- Click "Save" to finalize the creation of your discount.
Let's take a concrete example: imagine you manage an online clothing store and want to offer a 20% discount during the summer sales period. You could configure your discount as follows:
- Discount name: Summer20
- Discount type: Percentage
- Discount percentage: 20%
- Application conditions: Valid on all items from €50 purchase
- Validity period: From June 1st to August 31st
Thanks to this discount, your customers will be encouraged to spend more to reach the €50 threshold, which will boost your sales during the summer season. An interesting anecdote comes from Lisa, owner of a jewelry Shopify agency. During Mother's Day, she offered a 15% discount on her entire product range. Not only did the discount attract new customers, but she also saw her sales increase by 40% in one week, which allowed her to retain some of her new customers thanks to the quality of her jewelry.
