Ranking updated on August 21, 2026.
Of the 145 French agencies listed in the official Shopify Partners directory, ten were selected and scored out of 20 to build this ranking of the best Shopify agencies. Stellar Projects comes out on top with 19/20, ahead of lobsTTer at 18/20 and Pikka at 13/20. We publish this page and we rank ourselves first: that's a conflict of interest, it's disclosed in the very first line, the scoring grid is published before the results, and further down you'll find the exact calculation that costs us first place if you remove the one criterion where we're the only agency to score the maximum. That criterion is merchant experience: we run our own Shopify store in addition to our agency business. The grid has five criteria scored out of 4 points each, for a total of 20. Data collected on August 21, 2026.

Our scoring methodology, and our conflict of interest
Each agency is scored out of 20 points, split across five criteria worth 4 points each, including one criterion dedicated to SEO performance and one dedicated to merchant experience, neither of which competing directories measure. All data comes from publicly accessible sources, collected on August 21, 2026. Every agency mentioned has a right of reply, described at the end of this page.
We are both judge and contestant, and here is exactly how
Stellar Projects publishes this page, appears in this ranking and places itself first. Better to say so up front than in a footnote. A comparison written by a market player isn't disqualified by its bias, it's disqualified by hiding it. Here are the four safeguards we put in place, and you can check each one of them.
One, the grid is published before the results, with its point-by-point scoring scale. You know what earns 4 points and what earns 1 on each criterion, in terms a third party can verify, before you even see who wins.
Two, every sub-score is published. Each profile details the agency's five scores. Anyone can redo the math, line by line.
Three, the criterion that favors us is clearly identified, and we give you the means to knock us down. Of the five criteria, only one sees us score 4 points with no competitor tied: merchant experience. Simply remove that criterion and redo the calculation on the other four: lobsTTer moves to first with 16 points, and we come second with 15. That's the result we invite you to check for yourself, and it's published here because it's true.
Four, we didn't give ourselves the maximum score. We lose a point on public proof: our scale requires more than ten verified reviews, and we have nine. We could have lowered the threshold to five. We didn't.
Why we don't score the partner tier
This is the most debatable methodological choice on this page, so it deserves a serious justification. Most comparisons rank agencies by their tier in the Shopify directory. We publish that tier in the table, because it's useful information, but we don't give it any points.
The reason comes from Shopify's own documentation. The official partner program guide states that tiers are calculated on the business volume generated and the number of merchants acquired, recalculated every quarter, and it adds in black and white that certifications are not taken into account when calculating tiers in 2026. In other words: a tier measures what an agency brings to Shopify, not what it delivers to a merchant. An agency can reach the highest tier by churning out average projects for large accounts, while an excellent agency working on mid-sized projects will mechanically stay lower.
The tier is still used, but as an entry filter, not a scoring criterion: it proves real Shopify volume, which rules out agencies that advertise the platform without actually working on it. It says nothing more, and we don't make it say more. This choice suits us, since four agencies in this ranking are at a higher tier than ours. It's also defensible, and we'd rather own it and explain it than pass over it in silence.
The scope of the review
The starting point isn't a list of well-known agencies, it's the Shopify Partners directory filtered on France. As of August 21, 2026, it lists 145 partners whose primary location is in France, broken down as follows.
| Official tier | Number of French agencies | Included in this ranking |
|---|---|---|
| Platinum | 4 | 4 |
| Premier | 10 | 5 |
| Plus | 35 | 1 |
| Select | 40 | 0 |
| Registered | 56 | 0 |
Four entry criteria were applied to these 145 agencies: head office in France verified in the SIRENE register, displayed tier of Plus or higher, Shopify projects publicly named, and a traceable legal identity. The tier threshold alone rules out 96 agencies and leaves 49 candidates, all of which also meet the other three criteria. Eleven were scored, prioritizing the density of available public proof: the ten in the ranking, plus Galadrim, which passes the entry criteria but falls below the top 10 cutoff and whose profile is published after the others. We include ourselves even though thirty-four other agencies at our tier aren't listed: that's an editorial choice, not a rule, and we'd rather own it than comment on the market from the outside.
The grid, criterion by criterion
| Criterion | What earns 4 points | What earns 1 point | Data source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genuine Shopify specialization | Agency for which Shopify is the only platform | Shopify is marginal in the offering | Agency website, services listed on the official profile |
| Verifiable public proof | All three at once: more than 10 verified reviews, publicly named clients, at least one quantified, named result | None of the three | Shopify Partners directory, verified review directories, case study and testimonial pages |
| SEO and AI visibility capability | Dedicated in-house team, offering for visibility in generative engines, published results | No identifiable offering | Agency service pages |
| Pricing transparency and published method | Prices published by the agency and working method detailed publicly | Neither method nor pricing available | Agency website, official profile, third-party directories |
| Merchant experience | The agency runs its own e-commerce brand | The agency delivers the project and hands it over | Websites and brands operated, company register |
The last two criteria deserve a word. Transparency doesn't measure the quality of the work, which nobody can assess from the outside, but what an agency is willing to make public. An excellent but discreet agency loses points here, and we accept that: a ranking can only score what it can verify.
Merchant experience measures one simple thing: has the agency ever been in your shoes? A provider that has never managed inventory, a customer return, a shrinking margin or a campaign that doesn't convert thinks in features. A provider that sells its own products thinks in euros of margin. The scale is graduated: 4 points for an agency that runs its own brand, 3 for an agency that operates its clients' stores day to day, 2 for an agency that offers ongoing support after launch, 1 for an agency that delivers and hands over.
What this ranking doesn't measure
Three data points commonly shown in agency comparisons were left out because they don't hold up to verification. Headcount: the ranges published by INSEE date from the 2022 and 2023 editions, and they flatly contradict the figures announced by several agencies. Google ratings: they're only accessible through third-party aggregators that claim to pull them in, which isn't verification. Only reviews verified by an identified platform are counted. Build pricing: of the ten agencies selected, only one publishes a complete price list on its official profile.
The 2026 ranking at a glance
The 2026 ranking of the best Shopify agencies puts Stellar Projects on top with 19/20, ahead of lobsTTer at 18/20 and Pikka at 13/20. Agencies with the same score are listed alphabetically, with no implied hierarchy between them. The official tier is shown for information only and doesn't count toward the score.
| Rank | Agency | Score /20 | SEO score /4 | Merchant experience /4 | Verified reviews | Official tier (not scored) | City (registered office) | Main specialty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stellar Projects (publisher of this ranking) | 19 | 4 | 4 | 4.51/5 from 9 reviews | Plus | Paris 16th | Shopify, SEO and AI visibility, branding |
| 2 | lobsTTer | 18 | 4 | 2 | 4.9/5 from 145 reviews | Platinum | Clamart (92) | Shopify Plus, migrations, AI visibility |
| 3 | Pikka | 13 | 2 | 2 | 5.0/5 from 14 reviews | Premier | Bordeaux | Shopify and Webflow, small and mid-sized businesses |
| 4 | Axome | 12 | 3 | 2 | 4.8/5 from 4 reviews | Platinum | Saint-Étienne and Paris | Branding and tech, large catalogs |
| 4 | The Oz | 12 | 1 | 3 | No reviews | Premier | Paris 9th | Managed e-commerce operations |
| 4 | Unique Paris | 12 | 2 | 2 | 5.0/5 from 6 reviews | Premier | Paris 10th | Fashion and luxury, omnichannel |
| 4 | W3lead | 12 | 1 | 2 | 5.0/5 from 1 review | Premier | Paris 3rd | Design and conversion, fashion |
| 8 | Moon Moon | 11 | 1 | 2 | No reviews | Platinum | Nantes | Full Shopify, POS, in-store AI |
| 8 | Unlikely | 11 | 1 | 2 | No reviews | Premier | Paris 10th | Headless architecture and IT system integration |
| 10 | Colorz | 10 | 2 | 2 | No reviews | Platinum | Paris 11th | Creative and branding, retail |
Two takeaways stand out before going further. First: the top two spots clearly pull away, five points ahead of third place, and are separated by a single point. Second: the next eight agencies sit within three points of each other. This ranking doesn't say there's one good agency and nine bad ones. It says that at this level, the difference comes down less to skill than to what each agency is willing to prove publicly. So there's no single best Shopify agency in absolute terms, there's the best Shopify agency for your catalog, your budget and your main acquisition channel.
The 10 best Shopify agencies in France
The ten best French Shopify agencies selected are Stellar Projects, lobsTTer, Pikka, Axome, The Oz, Unique Paris, W3lead, Moon Moon, Unlikely and Colorz. Each profile follows the same template: what the agency is, the breakdown of its five scores, who it's the right choice for, who it isn't, and its entry ticket.
1. Stellar Projects, 19/20
Stellar Projects is a Shopify expert agency based in Paris, in the 16th arrondissement, and the publisher of this ranking. What sets it apart fits in one sentence: it's both an agency and a merchant.
Score breakdown. Specialization 4/4: we work only on Shopify, no other platform. Public proof 3/4: 4.51 out of 5 from 9 verified reviews on La Fabrique du Net, latest review posted on February 17, 2026, 15 testimonials signed with name, job title and brand on our website, 19 documented projects, and one quantified, named result: Panier des Sens, with 50 percent growth in the year following its migration. We're one verified review short of the threshold of ten we set, so we lose that point. SEO and AI visibility 4/4: in-house team, published offering with pricing, work on visibility in generative engines. Transparency 4/4: SEO pricing published on our website, project range published on our La Fabrique du Net profile, method detailed publicly. Merchant experience 4/4: see below.
What sets us apart, and it's the only criterion where we stand alone. We're not just a Shopify agency, we're also merchants. Cabania, a brand of cabin beds for children, is our own Shopify store: we manage its catalog, customer service, inventory, returns, margins and acquisition campaigns. Among the 145 French Shopify partners reviewed, we didn't identify any other agency that runs its own e-commerce brand alongside its services business. That changes two concrete things. We know what a technical decision costs in real margin, because we pay for it on our own accounts. And we test on our own store before recommending: when we talk about how long it really takes for SEO work to generate revenue, we're talking about an account we've looked at every month. If an agency in this ranking runs a brand we haven't identified, the right of reply at the end of this page also applies to this criterion.
Clients and references. Cabania, PERS Skincare and Bienaimé on our official partner profile, plus, on our website, Le Petit Olivier, Panier des Sens, Le Minor, Renouard, Scandale, Riviera & Bar, Angell Mobility, Velhy, Likama, Juste un T-shirt, Le Rivage Paris and Matatie. Figures declared by the agency on its La Fabrique du Net profile: more than 100 Shopify stores delivered and more than €60 million in cumulative revenue generated for clients. These last two figures are self-reported and haven't been audited by a third party, just like those of the nine other agencies on this page.
Who it's the right choice for. Brands that want a partner who thinks in terms of margin and acquisition as much as features, and those for whom organic visibility, on Google as well as AI assistants, is a priority channel.
Who it's not the right choice for. Projects that contractually require the highest partner tier, or priority access to Shopify's teams: on that specific point, four agencies on this page are better placed than we are. And buyers who want to rely on a three-digit volume of reviews: lobsTTer publishes sixteen times more than we do.
Entry ticket. Minimum budget of €5,000, most common project size between €10,000 and €50,000, documented median budget of €25,000. Published SEO offerings: audit from €1,500, full support from €3,500 per month, consulting from €1,200 per month.
2. lobsTTer, 18/20
lobsTTer is a Shopify e-commerce agency with its registered office in Clamart, in the Hauts-de-Seine department, which presents itself commercially from Paris. It has been a Shopify partner since March 2015, the longest track record in this selection, and holds Platinum tier.
Score breakdown. Specialization 4/4: the agency works only on Shopify and even publishes its own app on the App Store. Public proof 4/4, the only maximum score in the panel on this criterion: 4.9 out of 5 from 145 reviews on its partner profile, by far the best-documented profile in the entire French directory, a list of named clients including Kookai, Moulin Rouge, OPPO, Galerie Perrotin, Inoui Édition and Shilton, and a named case study on visibility in AI engines. SEO and AI visibility 4/4: in-house team and a dedicated offering for visibility in generative engines, the most advanced in the panel. Transparency 4/4: it's the only agency in the ranking to publish a complete price list on its official profile. Merchant experience 2/4: documented ongoing support, but no brand of its own.
What separates it from first place. A single point, on a single criterion: merchant experience. On the other four, lobsTTer is one point ahead of us thanks to its volume of reviews. We're saying it a second time because it matters: remove the merchant experience criterion and this agency takes the lead in this ranking.
Who it's the right choice for. Established brands migrating to Shopify Plus with IT system constraints, and those that want to treat visibility in AI assistants as a project in its own right rather than a sales pitch.
Who it's not the right choice for. Low-budget launch projects: the volume of enterprise references suggests an organization geared toward structured projects.
Entry ticket. Price list published on the official profile: from $400, store build at $7,200, migration at $7,000, theme customization at $750.
3. Pikka, 13/20
Pikka is the trade name of BG Conseils, a Bordeaux-based company founded in May 2017, with an office in Paris. Shopify partner since March 2019, Premier tier.
Score breakdown. Specialization 3/4: Shopify is the core of the business, complemented by Webflow. Public proof 3/4: 5.0 out of 5 from 14 reviews on its partner profile, one of the best ratios in the panel for a company of this size, with named clients including SoindeSoi, Carli and Milk Store, plus Terres et Beauté and Aluvy Design on its website, but no quantified, named result. SEO 2/4: SEO is explicitly listed among the services on the official profile and the website, with no detailed offering or published results. Transparency 3/4: a starting price range is published on a third-party directory, and the method is described on the website. Merchant experience 2/4.
Who it's the right choice for. Small and mid-sized businesses and regional brands that want an accessible team, with a very favorable ratio of verified reviews to company size.
Who it's not the right choice for. Complex international projects or heavy systems integrations, for which the agency doesn't show any references.
Entry ticket. From €10,000 per project, according to a third-party directory. Quote on request only on the official profile.
4. Axome, 12/20
Axome is the trade name of the company TRENTA, registered since 1984, with its head office in Saint-Étienne and an office in Paris. A Shopify partner since May 2019, the agency now displays Platinum tier, while its pages indexed by Google still recently carried the Premier Partner label.
Score breakdown. Specialization 3/4: a branding and technology agency for which Shopify is the e-commerce foundation, but not its only line of business. Public proof 2/4: only 4 reviews on its partner profile, below the threshold, but named clients including Balzac Paris, Pyrenex, Nutrimuscle, Maison Lejaby and Cosmoparis, and testimonials signed by name on its website. No quantified results published, which is surprising given its volume of activity. SEO 3/4: in-house team shown with a dedicated service page, and editorial content on conversational search, with no formal commercial offering on that front. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing. Merchant experience 2/4.
Who it's the right choice for. Brands with large catalogs that need a partner able to handle the platform, content and brand identity at the same time, without multiplying providers.
Who it's not the right choice for. Merchants looking for a quick quote: no published pricing and no public quantified results, which lengthens the evaluation phase.
Entry ticket. Not published.
4. The Oz, 12/20
The Oz, formerly The Other Store, is a Paris agency in the 9th arrondissement at Premier tier, majority-owned by Hopps Group since October 2022. Its model clearly sets it apart from the rest of the ranking: it doesn't just build stores, it runs them for its clients.
Score breakdown. Specialization 4/4: Shopify and e-commerce management, nothing else. Public proof 2/4: no reviews on the official profile, named clients including Gerard Darel, Cyrillus, Des Petits Hauts and Sabre Paris, and published performance figures that are aggregated, not tied to an identified client, and therefore unverifiable. SEO 1/4: no offering shown. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing. Merchant experience 3/4: the second-best score in the panel on this criterion, because the agency operates its clients' stores day to day, which exposes it to the same realities as a merchant without making it bear the risk.
Who it's the right choice for. Brands without an in-house e-commerce team that want to outsource day-to-day operations, not just the build.
Who it's not the right choice for. Merchants who already have an in-house team and only want a technical partner on short cycles.
Entry ticket. Not published.
4. Unique Paris, 12/20
Unique Paris is the trade name of the company Zee Shop, backed by the Zee Agency group, at 33 rue d'Hauteville in the 10th arrondissement. A Shopify partner since October 2017, at Premier tier, it has the second-longest track record in this selection, behind lobsTTer.
Score breakdown. Specialization 4/4: the agency has worked exclusively on Shopify since 2017 and claims fully in-house production. Public proof 2/4: 5.0 out of 5 but from only 6 reviews, below the threshold, though with some of the most recognizable named clients in the ranking, including Bonpoint, J.M. Weston, Rouje, Saint James and Vuarnet, plus Isabel Marant and Fusalp on its website, and testimonials signed by identified managers. No quantified results. SEO 2/4: SEO appears as a delivered service in the case study pages, with no offering shown. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing disclosed. Merchant experience 2/4.
Who it's the right choice for. Fashion houses and heritage brands with an omnichannel challenge, especially when the online store, physical retail and international markets need to work together.
Who it's not the right choice for. Merchants outside the fashion and lifestyle space, and those who need structured support on organic acquisition.
Entry ticket. Not published.
4. W3lead, 12/20
W3lead is a Paris agency in the 3rd arrondissement, founded in 2013, at Premier tier. One piece of information changes how its profile reads and almost never appears in comparisons: W3lead was acquired by the Lyon-based group Synolia, in a deal announced on October 3, 2024, and has since served as the group's Shopify division.
Score breakdown. Specialization 4/4: W3lead is its group's Shopify specialist, while the group's other entities cover other platforms. Public proof 3/4: only one review on the official profile, so well below the threshold, but many named clients, including Jennyfer, Tartine et Chocolat, Vanessa Bruno, Balzac Paris, Citadium, Jimmy Fairly and Qwetch, and above all the most complete quantified case study in the ranking: on the Qwetch project, the agency publishes revenue growth of 142 percent and order growth of 134 percent between 2023 and 2025, with the retention rate rising from 10.56 to 15.88 percent. SEO 1/4: no SEO offering shown, which contrasts with the quality of its published results. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing of its own. Merchant experience 2/4.
Who it's the right choice for. Fashion and retail brands that want design and conversion optimization, backed by the depth of resources of a group.
Who it's not the right choice for. Merchants looking for an independent agency, and those whose main need is SEO. Be aware of its messaging, however: the website and menu still use the Shopify Plus Partner label, a program Shopify retired in December 2024, alongside the Premier Partner label, which does match its official tier.
Entry ticket. Not published by the agency. A third-party directory gives a range of €1,000 to €50,000, too wide to be useful.
8. Moon Moon, 11/20
Moon Moon is a Nantes-based digital agency founded in January 2022, and it's the most unusual case in this ranking: four years in business and already at Platinum tier, which only four French agencies have reached.
Score breakdown. Specialization 4/4: a full-Shopify agency, from design to point of sale. Public proof 2/4: no reviews on the official profile, but named projects with technical descriptions, including Famille Perrin, Cimalp, Popote and Pini Parma. No quantified results. SEO 1/4: no identifiable SEO offering. The agency has launched a studio dedicated to artificial intelligence, but it focuses on AI features in the store, conversational search and product page enrichment, which is a different line of work from visibility in generative engines. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing disclosed. Merchant experience 2/4.
Who it's the right choice for. Brands migrating from PrestaShop or WooCommerce with physical retail or subscription needs, and those that want to experiment with AI features in the shopping journey.
Who it's not the right choice for. Buyers who require a long track record or a volume of public reviews, and those whose main challenge is organic acquisition.
Entry ticket. Not published.
8. Unlikely, 11/20
Unlikely is a Paris agency founded in September 2017, at Premier tier, and the only one in this ranking to display an award granted by Shopify: the 2026 Build Award in the Storefronts category, for the Ysé website.
Score breakdown. Specialization 4/4: Shopify Plus, with strong expertise in headless architecture. Public proof 2/4: no reviews on the official profile and no quantified results, but top-tier named clients, including Jean Paul Gaultier, Nina Ricci, Éric Bompard, Jimmy Fairly, Lunii and Gerard Darel, and an award issued by Shopify, which remains the strongest third-party proof in this category. SEO 1/4: no offering. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing, and no legal notice page was accessible on the website as of August 21, 2026. Merchant experience 2/4.
Who it's the right choice for. International brands that want a headless storefront and need to connect Shopify to a heavy IT system: order management, product information management, point of sale and ERP.
Who it's not the right choice for. Standard projects: the headless approach costs more to build and maintain, and only makes sense when the need justifies it.
Entry ticket. Not published.
10. Colorz, 10/20
Colorz is a Paris agency in the 11th arrondissement, whose legal entity dates back to May 1986, at Platinum tier.
Score breakdown. Specialization 2/4: this is its weak point. Colorz is first and foremost a creative and branding agency, for which Shopify is one area of expertise among others. Public proof 2/4: no reviews on the official profile and no quantified results, but identifiable, documented Shopify projects, including Le Slip Français, Atelier Tuffery, Starcow, Cabaïa and Just Over The Top. SEO 2/4: SEO is mentioned in the marketing section of its areas of expertise, with no dedicated page. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing. Merchant experience 2/4.
A caveat on references. The agency page displays some forty brands, including several luxury houses and large groups. These logos cover the agency's entire activity over forty years, including creative, content and branding work. Nothing establishes that they are Shopify projects, so we didn't count them as such.
Who it's the right choice for. Brands for which identity matters as much as the platform, and that want a partner able to handle art direction alongside the store.
Who it's not the right choice for. Purely technical or performance-driven projects.
Entry ticket. Not published.
The eleventh agency scored: Galadrim, 9/20
Galadrim doesn't make the top 10, but it passes our four entry criteria and deserves to be scored rather than brushed aside: it's a Paris company in the 17th arrondissement, a Shopify partner at Plus tier, with some of the most prestigious named Shopify projects in the entire panel on its official profile.
Score breakdown. Specialization 2/4: this is what keeps it out of the top 10. Galadrim is first and foremost a custom development and artificial intelligence agency, with Shopify among its areas of expertise. Its main portfolio, across all sectors, extends well beyond e-commerce. Public proof 2/4: no reviews on its partner profile and no quantified result tied to a Shopify client, but named clients on that official profile including Clarins, Delsey, Typology Paris, The Bradery and Planet Cards. SEO 1/4: no accessible SEO offering could be identified on its website as of August 21, 2026. Transparency 2/4: method published, no pricing, with the website explicitly stating that cost depends on complexity. Merchant experience 2/4.
Who it's the right choice for. Brands whose Shopify project is first and foremost an engineering project: taking over a complex IT system, developing custom apps, headless architecture, or integrating artificial intelligence components. It's the most technical profile on this page, and the only one that approaches Shopify from a software background rather than a commerce one. Details of its approach are on Galadrim's Shopify page.
Who it's not the right choice for. Merchants looking for an e-commerce partner in the broad sense, covering acquisition, content and conversion optimization. That's not their line of work and they don't claim it is.
Entry ticket. Not published.
Agencies reviewed and then excluded, and why
A ranking that explains its exclusions is a ranking. A ranking that doesn't is a selection. Three agencies frequently cited in competing comparisons were excluded after verification.
| Agency | Reason for exclusion, verified on August 21, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Eskimoz | No profile in the Shopify Partners directory. It's an SEO agency that works for Shopify merchants, which is a different line of work from a Shopify integrator. |
| Novaway | No profile in the Shopify Partners directory, and Shopify doesn't appear in its advertised offering. Its stated line of work is custom software development. |
| Blackbird | No profile in the Shopify Partners directory. Its advertised partnerships concern other platforms. The agency belongs to the same group as W3lead, which would also have meant counting the same group twice. |
Five Premier-tier agencies were also excluded for lack of usable data with regard to our four entry criteria: a poorly documented directory profile, or no Shopify projects publicly named.
The SEO performance sub-ranking
On the criterion of SEO and visibility in AI assistants alone, the three top-scoring agencies are lobsTTer and Stellar Projects, at 4 out of 4, followed by Axome at 3 out of 4. It's the most discriminating criterion in the entire grid: seven agencies out of ten score 2 points or fewer.
This sub-ranking exists because no competing directory measures this dimension. A merchant comparing agencies wants to know which one can bring traffic to their store, not just which one can build it. Yet building a store and getting it to rank are two different jobs, and most agencies in this ranking only do the first.
| Agency | Score /4 | In-house team shown | Public quantified results | AI visibility offering |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| lobsTTer | 4 | Yes, dedicated service page | One named case study, not quantified | Yes, dedicated offering and proprietary app |
| Stellar Projects | 4 | Yes, with published pricing | Yes, one named case and anonymized results by sector | Yes, built into the SEO offering |
| Axome | 3 | Yes, dedicated service page | No | No, editorial content only |
| Colorz | 2 | Mentioned without a dedicated page | No | No |
| Pikka | 2 | Yes, listed on the official profile | No | No |
| Unique Paris | 2 | Delivered as a service, not advertised | No | No |
| Moon Moon | 1 | No | No | No, the AI offering focuses on the store |
| The Oz | 1 | No | Aggregated, unnamed figures | No |
| Unlikely | 1 | No | No | No |
| W3lead | 1 | No | Yes, one named and quantified case study | No |
The W3lead row clearly shows the limits of the exercise: it's the agency that publishes the best quantified results in the ranking, and also one of those with the least visible SEO offering. An agency can deliver organic performance without making it a declared line of business.
What sets Shopify SEO expertise apart from general SEO expertise
Shopify imposes constraints that generalist providers discover mid-project, often too late. Here are the five main ones, all verifiable in the official documentation.
The URL structure is imposed. Shopify reserves the /products/ and /collections/ prefixes: you can't serve a product page on a flat URL, so a site structure designed for another system has to be rebuilt. The documentation adds a separate constraint: addresses starting with /cart, /carts, /orders, /apps, /application, /services or /shop can't be redirected at all. This is the first point where a poorly prepared migration plan breaks.
Duplicate content stems from the structure itself. The same product can be reached from several collections, and filtered collection pages multiply. Shopify's default robots file actually blocks these filtered pages, which protects indexing but means you need to know what you're doing if you change that behavior.
The robots file can be edited, but Shopify classifies this as an unsupported customization. You have to create a dedicated template in the theme, support won't help if something goes wrong, and the documentation warns of the risk of losing all your traffic. Shopify recommends keeping the default object, which is updated regularly, rather than hard-coding the rules.
Since May 2026, every store automatically serves an agents.md file, also accessible at the /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt paths, and three dedicated templates let you customize each of these files separately. These files describe the store to conversational agents. It's a new, recent service, and very few agencies have added it to their offering so far.
A critical and often misunderstood point. Since Shopify rolled out its product catalog to AI channels, blocking a crawler in the robots file no longer prevents your products from being distributed to ChatGPT or Copilot: the official documentation states that syndication goes through the catalog, independently of the robots file. A merchant who thinks they're protecting themselves by blocking a crawler is pulling the wrong lever. Control happens in the channel settings, not in the theme.
SEO for a Shopify store is therefore subject to constraints that generalist providers underestimate, from the imposed URL structure to variant management. We cover them in detail in the complete guide to Shopify SEO.
What this sub-ranking says about the market
One remark before moving on. None of the ten agencies in this ranking publishes pricing for an SEO service, except lobsTTer and ourselves. Market benchmarks are in the FAQ at the bottom of this page, but above all remember this: an agency that can't put a price on organic growth support probably doesn't provide it.
This sub-ranking measures a capability, it doesn't provide it. If you're looking to outsource it rather than evaluate it, you can entrust your SEO to our team, with full details on the method, scope and timelines.
SEO and AI visibility: what changes in 2026 for a Shopify store
The question is no longer whether AI assistants will become an acquisition channel. The data published in 2026 says they already are, and above all that their quality has flipped.
In April 2026, Adobe published an analysis covering more than one trillion visits to US retail websites. Two figures stand out. Traffic from AI interfaces to these sites grew by 393 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same quarter the previous year. Most importantly, this traffic converted 38 percent worse than other channels in March 2025, and it converts 42 percent better in March 2026. That's a complete reversal in twelve months, and it's the first figure we look at when a client asks us whether the topic deserves a budget.
Meanwhile, the traditional organic window is closing. In February 2026, Ahrefs compared the behavior of 300,000 keywords between December 2023 and December 2025: the click-through rate in first position drops by 58 percent when the query triggers an AI-generated summary. A Pew Research Center study of 68,879 real searches had already found in 2025 that the presence of an AI summary cut the click-through rate from 15 to 8 percent, a finding Google publicly disputed.
Two honest caveats about these figures. They're US or global figures: no reliable data specific to the French market exists to date on the share of e-commerce traffic coming from generative engines, and it would be dishonest to transpose the US figures as they are. And the landscape is fragmenting fast: ChatGPT's share of global traffic to generative AI platforms fell from about 76 percent in June 2025 to about 53 percent in May 2026, to the benefit of Gemini and Claude. Optimizing for a single assistant is already a strategic mistake.
Adobe adds a data point aimed squarely at merchants: product pages score on average only 66 percent for machine readability, which mechanically limits how often assistants pick them up. That's where the work lies, and it looks a lot like classic technical SEO: clean structured data, complete product attributes, content that answers a question in a standalone sentence, and consistency between what the product page says and what the catalog sent to AI channels says.
How much does a Shopify agency cost in France in 2026?
The median budget for a Shopify project handled by a French agency is €25,000, with an average of €43,005, according to an analysis of 147 priced projects published in February 2026 by La Fabrique du Net. The gap between the median and the average says it all: the market is pulled upward by a minority of very large projects.
| Type of service | Observed budget | What drives the price |
|---|---|---|
| Setting up an existing theme | Under €5,000 | Number of custom templates, content migration |
| Custom store | About €15,000 | Original design, number of pages, third-party integrations |
| Advanced e-commerce | €25,000 to €50,000 | Multi-market, subscriptions, B2B, inventory management |
| Shopify Plus project | €100,000 and up | IT system integration, number of SKUs, international |
The breakdown by company profile is more telling than an overall range. The median budget is €7,000 for a very small business, €15,000 for a small or mid-sized business, €33,000 for a startup and €100,000 for a large group. Nearly 30 percent of the projects surveyed exceed €100,000.
The day rate in the French market
Public benchmarks don't publish a Shopify-specific day rate, and you should be wary of any figure presented as such. The available benchmarks cover development profiles. The Malt 2026 barometer puts an experienced developer with 8 to 15 years of experience at €575 per day on average, a back-end profile at €561 and a front-end profile at €535, with a consistent premium for Paris. The rarest skills push these amounts up without making them skyrocket: cybersecurity, the best-paid profile in the tech barometer, sits at €721 per day, and data experts at €666.
A structured agency charges more than these amounts, because the price also covers project management, acceptance testing, warranty and service continuity. A freelancer charges less, but without those elements. The difference isn't margin, it's scope.
The line items quotes consistently leave out
Four lines are missing from most of the quotes we see when asked for a second opinion.
- The Shopify subscription itself. As of August 21, 2026, the French pricing page shows its amounts in US dollars: $39 per month for the Basic plan, $105 for Grow, $399 for Advanced, and from $2,300 per month for Shopify Plus. An Agentic plan at $0 per month, billed per sale, has also been added.
- Third-party apps. Customer reviews, subscriptions, loyalty, search filters, email marketing: each one bills monthly, and the total often exceeds €300 per month on a reasonably equipped store.
- Preserving existing SEO. Redirect plan, carrying over tags, checking indexing after the switchover. It's a project in its own right, never a free by-product of the migration.
- Team training. A store that's delivered but that nobody knows how to manage costs more in one-off interventions in the first year than the training that should have been budgeted.
Migration is the line item quotes most often underestimate, because it combines data migration, a redirect plan and preserving existing SEO. We've detailed how it unfolds in what a migration really costs.
Agency, freelancer or certified partner: which profile for which project?
An agency, a freelancer and a certified partner aren't separated by principle but by two thresholds: the size of the catalog and the number of systems to connect. Below 200 SKUs and with no connection to an ERP, a competent freelancer is enough and costs half as much. Beyond that, or as soon as an IT system comes into play, you need a structured Shopify specialist, because the need for continuity and acceptance testing tips the balance.
On the choice between a standard Shopify plan and Shopify Plus, the answer fits in one line: Plus makes sense when order volume, the number of markets or the need to customize the checkout makes the standard plan limiting, and not before. The minimum price of $2,300 per month only pays off with substantial revenue, and many brands switch too early.
The partner label is reassuring, but it says nothing about agility or price. We've explained what the Shopify Plus Partner label really changes.
And if you're weighing an agency against a freelancer, the decision comes down to budget and service continuity more than skill: agency or freelancer, the detailed comparison settles it point by point.
The decision tree
- If your catalog has fewer than 200 SKUs, you sell in a single market and your budget is under €10,000, a small Shopify web design agency working on an existing theme, or a freelancer, is the right choice.
- If you sell in two or more markets, or you need to connect management software, go with an agency, whatever your budget. The cost of a failed integration always exceeds the savings made on the service.
- If you're migrating from another platform with an SEO history to preserve, check that the quote includes a dedicated line for the redirect plan. If it doesn't, the quote isn't cheaper, it's incomplete.
- If you exceed €1 million in annual revenue or need to customize the checkout, only then should you look at Shopify Plus and Premier and Platinum tier agencies.
How to choose and vet a Shopify agency before signing
Three checks are enough to vet a Shopify agency before signing: verify its real tier on the official partner profile, cross-check its reviews and projects against public sources, and ask the questions that commit it. You can do all of this yourself in half an hour, without asking the agency for anything.
Verify the real tier on the partner profile
Go to the Shopify Partners directory, France section, then open the agency's profile. Three pieces of information appear there that the agency can't edit: the exact tier, the date it joined the program, and the number of reviews with their rating. It's the only authoritative source on this point.
Remember the official hierarchy, in ascending order: Registered, Select, Plus, Premier, Platinum. Above all, learn to spot outdated wording. The Shopify Plus Partner program was discontinued in December 2024, and the official program guide asks partners to display only the badge matching their current tier and to update it whenever their status changes. An agency presenting itself in 2026 as a Shopify Plus Partner is using a dead label, which isn't serious in itself but tells you something about how closely it keeps up. The Premium label, for its part, never existed at Shopify. As for the word certified, it refers to individual Shopify Academy certifications, not a partnership tier: a certified agency tells you nothing about its rank in the directory.
One thing to know to interpret a tier correctly, and it's the reason we don't score it: tiers are recalculated every quarter and are based on the commercial volume generated, not on the quality of the work delivered. A high tier proves business volume brought to Shopify, not talent. Use it as a filter, not as a ranking.
Cross-check a score against public sources
For every agency, three cross-checks are available to anyone. Verified reviews, on the partner profile or on an identified review platform, left by clients who actually worked with the agency. Live projects, which you simply need to open to check that the site actually runs on Shopify. And the legal identity in the company register, which lets you verify the company's existence, age and registered office. It's the fastest and most telling of the three checks.
Ask the right questions before signing
This ranking doesn't replace your own due diligence. We've published the complete process, the twelve questions to ask in a meeting and the seven warning signs that should make you walk away, in our guide on how to evaluate a Shopify provider.
What changed in the market in 2026
Three clearly dated shifts have changed the landscape of French Shopify agencies over the past year, and they explain why this ranking differs significantly from last year's.
Partnership terminology changed, and almost nobody kept up
This is the most structural development, and the least discussed. Shopify overhauled its partner program in January 2025, with two separate tracks, one for agencies and one for app developers. The agency track has five tiers. Along the way, two long-standing brands disappeared: the Experts Marketplace, closed in December 2023, and the Shopify Plus Partner program, discontinued in December 2024.
The practical consequence for a merchant: a good share of the badges displayed on French agency websites point to programs that no longer exist. It isn't deception, it's a failure to update. We had to rework our own pages on this point, and we wouldn't swear we've fixed all of them. But it makes it impossible to read certifications without going through the official partner profile.
Conversational commerce has become infrastructure, not an experiment
In September 2025, Shopify announced native selling in ChatGPT, then in March 2026 the rollout of conversational storefronts managed from the store admin, covering ChatGPT, Copilot, Google's AI Mode and Gemini. The Spring '26 Edition, released on June 17, went further with a product catalog automatically structured for AI channels, and an open commerce protocol developed with Google, joined by Walmart, Target, Etsy, Mastercard, Stripe and Visa.
The most concrete data comes from the merchants Shopify cited in its June 17, 2026 announcement: the Omnilux brand reports that 3.2 percent of its total revenue came from AI channels in March 2026. That's still modest, but it's a channel that didn't exist eighteen months earlier.
The French market keeps growing, and it's consolidating
French e-commerce revenue reached €196.4 billion in 2025, up 7 percent according to Fevad. The number of active online stores also grew by 7 percent, to 158,000. One figure published in July 2026 is worth remembering: 94 percent of companies in the sector say they use generative artificial intelligence solutions, and about a third of consumers already factor AI into their purchasing decisions.
On the agency side, only one consolidation move is solidly documented: the acquisition of W3lead by the Synolia group, announced on October 3, 2024, six months after the same group bought another e-commerce agency. A long-standing integrator of a competing platform thus chose to buy Shopify expertise rather than build it. It's a signal, not yet a trend: no other French deal could be documented for 2025 and 2026.
What we think, plain and simple
In our view, Shopify remains the best option for the vast majority of French brands, but the platform has real flaws that the official marketing glosses over. We've listed them in what we criticize Shopify for.
And if you want to see concretely how these agencies' design choices play out once live, we've opened up and reviewed ten French Shopify stores in detail.
Why a Shopify project fails, even with a good agency
Four causes account for most Shopify projects that go off track, and none of them depends on the agency: a shifting scope, the lack of a single decision-maker, an underestimated migration budget and product content that isn't ready. For each one, here's the early warning sign that lets you catch it before it's too late.
A constantly shifting scope. The warning sign shows up in the first few weeks: requests come in as scattered messages rather than a prioritized list. If nobody maintains a single reference document, the project will go off track. The fix comes down to one rule: any request outside the agreed scope goes through a priced change order, even at zero euros, to make visible what's being added.
No decision-maker. The sign becomes visible at the first mockup approval: it takes more than ten days and comes back with contradictory opinions. A project needs one person who makes the call, not a committee that comments.
An underestimated migration budget. The sign is easy to spot, it appears in the initial quote: no line for data migration or for the redirect plan. These two items regularly account for a quarter of a migration's total budget.
Product content that isn't ready. This is the most common and most underestimated cause. The early warning sign is clear: halfway through development, the final photos and descriptions still haven't been provided. A site that's technically delivered but filled with placeholder content can't launch, and the resulting delay is almost always blamed on the agency.
Projects that go off track rarely do so during the build. They go off track during the migration. We've documented the complete process in how to succeed with a migration to Shopify.
Or they go off track after launch. What happens once the store is open is a topic in its own right, often dealt with last even though it shapes the first year of operations. We've covered it in detail in maintenance after launch.
FAQ
How to use this comparison
This ranking isn't meant to give you an answer, it's meant to give you a method. Use it in four steps.
Start by deciding which criteria matter to you. The five criteria in the grid don't carry the same weight for every project: if you have an in-house e-commerce team and a purely technical challenge, the merchant experience criterion doesn't apply to you, so remove it and redo the math, and the ranking changes. That's precisely why we publish the sub-scores.
Next, go through the SEO sub-ranking table rather than the overall ranking. If organic acquisition matters to you, it eliminates seven agencies out of ten at a glance, which is more effective than an overall score. Then open the partner profiles of your two or three shortlisted agencies yourself, and check the tier, track record and reviews. Finally, compare the stated entry ticket with the market benchmarks in the pricing section: a quote well below the €25,000 median isn't a bargain, it's a narrower scope you need to identify.
A word on how current this data is. Partner tiers are recalculated by Shopify every quarter, and the next update is scheduled for October 1, 2026. This ranking will be reassessed on that date, then every quarter. All data presented here was collected on August 21, 2026.
Right of reply
This ranking is fallible. We may have misinterpreted a data point, missed a page, or overlooked an agency that deserves to be included. If you run a French Shopify agency and believe your score is wrong, or if you'd simply like to be evaluated, write to us: we'll check and republish, even if it costs us first place. This right also applies to the merchant experience criterion: if your agency runs its own e-commerce brand and we missed it, let us know and we'll correct the score. And it applies to the four agencies we excluded: if any of them has evidence we didn't find, we'll republish.
And if, after all that, you'd rather talk directly with people who build Shopify stores every day and run one of their own, our Shopify agency in Paris responds to inquiries within 48 hours.
